Upgrade to Wordpress ver2.2 “Getz”

Regular visitors to my blog would’ve noticed the new wp theme. This is because I’ve upgraded my Wordpress software from version 2.0.5 that I’ve been using previously to the latest version released yesterday, i.e version 2.2 “Getz”. Read all the new features being implemented in “Getz” here. You can download Wordpress version 2.2 “Getz” here.

So, in order to make use of the various new features offered by the new version, I’ve also upgraded the theme. This new theme is called St-Style, and it’s from the same designer of my previous theme, George C. from BloggerLounge. I like George’s theme design very much, as they tended to be sleek and more on the modern side. Also, his page coding is very professionally done, thus modifying his wp themes is very easy.

My blog has been down since this morning as I was in the process of moving it to a new, paid host. The transfer went very smoothly mostly, the only hiccup was when I needed to update the mysql db from the backup as the previous mysql version used by my old host was older than the new one. But I managed to complete the transfer in less than half a day. Phew.

So, I hope you all like the new layout. I’ve tested it on Firefox and Opera, it worked fine. Those using IE v6 will have a problem as the layer properties used in this theme will break, making the page extending longer than necessary. But, for those still using IE v6, please consider moving up to Firefox as it’s tonnes and tonnes better. Some more, it’s free.

    I’m really hesitant about upgrading to v2.2. I’ve got everything working the way I want it. With my luck it’ll break everything ;)
    I think I might install it locally first and see what happens. Any new exciting features I’m missing out on? ;P

    Hi Mike,

    Well, the only exciting feature worth mentioning is the widget drag and drop thing that can be done from within the admin page. Other than that, I thinks thay just fix some old issues. I really need this upgrade as frankly, v2.0 that I was using was really annoying.

    In your case, it might be prudent to wait for a few days to see if any major woes might be reported…just to be on the safe side. :)

    Hmmmm…I don’t use widgets anymore, so that doesn’t entice me..hehe :P
    I stumbled onto someone’s blog yesterday who upgraded to 2.2 and they lost their sidebar :-o Maybe that had something to do with the widgets though. At any rate I think I’ll wait a bit :)
