To Design, or not To Design…

Regarding my new blog layout and theme; I actually received a lot of criticism from my friends and family members, with the most veracious one being my wife. Their main contention - I’m using someone else theme’s design. I admit, they do have a point there, I am a qualified designer. Qualified here being actually meant by the virtue of having a university degree (in multimedia)… although, not that it worth much in the real world!

And I think you yourself might be thinking the same thing too. Of course, I understand php and html, of course I understand css layout, and, of course I can come out with my own theme if I want to. So, the million dollar question is…why?

To this I have only one answer, TIME! I am currently working for somebody else, full time. And my current job is not in designing…it’s in marketing - on-line marketing to be exact, which involves lots of on-line researching and talking to customers. These really do eat most of my time daily. As for after office-hour, at the moment I prefer to write poetry and haiku, as evident by the myriad crazy verses that keep on appearing here in my blog… :) .

My employment will come to an end soon as the current project is nearing completion. I will then be able to free-lance again, which mean I might be able to come out wih my own theme design. Currently, if you’re searching for a suitable wordpress theme to use, just go to wordpress.org themes page here, or easier still, googled them…you’d be spoilt for choices!

Also as my blog is new, I think it is of the utmost importance to concentrate more on the contents, and to establish my presence here on the blogosphere.
As they says, content is king!…and readers are more likely to do a repeat visits to a highly informative and interesting blog rather than to a mundane but beautiful one.

But, at the end, I think, if we try and give our best, that’s the only things that matter…right? :) try our best.

I use themes for my blogs, but I try to make them mine in the end. Let me know if you go on to create any.

You right. I use a premade theme because of time; I don’t have enough of it to maintain everything. I think your new layout looks great. It seems to be hanging up though, it kept opening and for some reason wouldn’t finish.

You’re right about that, Bobby. Actually, I’ve been receiving quite a few flak on these. I guess I must somehow find the time to put things right, somehow. Thanks. :)
