After going around censuring to everybody about how I’ll never use TMNet again, I’m back on-line, on TMNet’s Streamyx service. Well, as the title says, I’m here eating my own word back.

I was pretty sure that I can get a Jaring account as my friend’s Taman (housing estate), which is about 600 m away from mine,  was serviced by Jaring.  Imagine my dismay when Jaring told me there was no available port as my area is a new housing estate. This despite the fact that Jaring HQ in Bukit Jalil is only 15 km away!

The only other provider that’s available is Maxis, but when I went over the fine print I saw this very worrying clause:

So… 3 GB per month(total upload and download) limit. WTF ??? I say worrying as from what stated there in clause 5.3, given my heavy usage, I’ll definitely exceed this limit in 3 or 4 days. Although everyone I talked to says that had Maxis never enforces this policy, I really can’t take the chance. Come on…this is a big corporation we’re talking about, where the bottom line is profit! Really, here is someone whose usage is 10 times the permitted limit every months,  and you think Maxis will be charitable enough to let it be? Sorry, but I’m not delusional enough.

So, abashedly, I had to go back and get streamyx. Oh well…
