Cherish your life

Isn’t mortality our most powerful raison d’etre?
It’s a thought that most will surely shook with fright -
the thought of death itself!
We wound up so tight though it’s inevitable
death comes to us all.
We’ll never know whether we’ll go out with a roar
most will wish it is,
or barely with a whimper as most will do-
just don’t dwell on it.
When it all does ends only our deed remains
all the good and bad.
So shouldn’t we leave a happy memories to
those left behind
instead of just the lugubriousness
that comes after?
The days we lived and loved and laughed and cried
… please, cherish it all.

Wow, let me just tell you that this is one of the most beautiful things I’ve read. I was just doing a google image search and somehow stumbled into this wonderful poem. the opening line really got me in the heart. all I can really say is that I could not possibly agree more with the poem. it is pure, unabashed truth. as a fellow writer and poet, i humbly bow to this indicator of prowess and thank you for sharing it.
